There are many ways for fans to interact with their favorite idols, like chatting on messaging platforms like Bubble or even during video live streams. During in-person fan sign events, some lucky stans will talk to their favorite idols one-on-one.
During COVID-19 lockdowns, a new way for fans to interact with idols was introduced — video fan calls. Instead of being physically present, fans worldwide only need an internet connection and smart device to chat with their favorite idols.

Most idols do these during the comebacks, and they can feel like you’re on the phone with a friend instead of a celebrity because of how natural they seem.
SEVENTEEN‘s Jeonghan has actually given a look at what goes on behind the scenes of these fan call events.
In a recently resurfaced video, Jeonghan is first seen talking to a fan before the phone is lifted and shifted around.
Once the image is stable, you can see SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi and another member conducting video calls of their own. Also seen are two staff members sitting to the side and in front.
Fans also recognized the room where the event was held as the exact location of BTS J-Hope‘s listening party and many of the HYBE family TikTok challenges.
Many that saw the clip couldn’t believe that was how fan calls worked and shared their feelings on the setup and how unbothered Jeonghan was during the whole reveal!
